The Professor Charles Effiong Foundation in collaboration with Centre for Clinical Care and Clinical Research, Nigeria, distributed non-resuseable sanitray pads to over 100 adolescent girls who had reached menarche in Nko and Ketabebe communities of Yakurr Local Government Area, Cross River State.

The distribution took place to mark the Menstrual Hygiene Day, 2023 which is slated for May 28, every year. With this year’s theme; Making Menstruation a Normal Fact of Life, the Foundation, provided sexual and reproductive health and menstrual hygiene information to the adolescent girls while also demystifying several myths about menstruation which brings about stigmatization.

In order to address period poverty, the adolescent girls were trained on how to make and care for reuseable sanitary pads.
